Prezados (as) alunos (as),

estudantes;
2 – Promover uma maior integração entre os estudantes e sua futura
profissão;
3 – Incentivar a liderança;
4 – Responsabilidade;
5 – Criatividade;
6 – Iniciativa e trabalho em grupo;

UFPR.

O evento ocorrerá nesta* quinta-feira, dia 21/03, às 13h30, no auditório do
CESEC*. Abaixo segue o descritivo das palestras:

*Presentation of "Dipartimento di Ingegneria “Enzo Ferrari"*

*Abstract:* We will introduce the Department activity at 3 different
levels: teaching, research, and technology transfer. We will give an
overview on the Italian Higher Education System and
describe the Double Degree program we have activated last year. We will
introduce other possible opportunities for joint teaching activities. Major
research fields will be described and possible collaboration procedures
will be introduced. The possibility to interact also with industries in the
Modena area will be proposed, as well.

*Speaker:* Francesca Gambetta is currently responsible for teaching
processes related to: Internationalization (Erasmus and student mobility),
Masters and advanced courses, curricular
and extracurricular internships, outbound orientation; responsible for
communication with the students and support for the head of the
Department's teaching area. She’s also member Working Group on the
Internationalization of the Division as well as administrative delegate to
the Internationalization of the Department and member of the University
Group for the management of the International Double Degree in UNIMORE.

*Seminar: SEMICONDUCTOR NONVOLATILE MEMORIES *

*Abstract: *The consumer products memory needs have been continuously
growing since the first commercial cellular phone in the 90s. Moreover,
smartphones, Internet of Things (IoT), digital TV and electric cars, and
the Artificial Intelligence HW needs have increased even more the growth of
memory needs. Since the discovery of the nonvolatile storage concept, the
memories architectures have been modified by introducing several different
technical solutions. The original common ground NOR Flash, initially
addressing both the code and data storage segments has been substituted by
the NAND Flash, initially optimized for the data storage market. The
increased memory size requirement, due to the large amount of data and
software introduced in the modern applications, forced the semiconductor
manufacturers to explore alternative techniques to reduce the silicon size
in a more efficient way than the traditional cell scaling. The so called
‘multilevel’ that allowed at least doubling the density at the same chip
size, enlarging the application range, and reducing the cost per bit. The
3D revolution has increased the density in such a way that any other new
solution will have serious problems in entering the market. The reliability
and the associated data retention are other important subjects to be
considered in the actual memory development because of the automotive
market high level standard as well. New applications are facing the
research arena, for example “logic-inmemory” and “neuromorphic computing”.
For these application, new devices and architectures are proposed. In this
seminar, we will review the basics of semiconductor nonvolatile storage
and analyze the actual solutions in the market. We will also give an
overview of recent advances in research, especially in new applications.

*Speaker:* Paolo Pavan is currently a Professor of Electronics at
Dipartimento di Ingengeria “Enzo Ferrari” the University of Modena and
Reggio Emilia, Modena, Italy. His current research interests include the
characterization and modeling of nonvolatile memories and the development
of energy-aware applications for automotive. Prof. Pavan was with the IEDM
Technical and Executive Committee and the Technical Program Chair of
ESSDERC 2014. He is currently with the Steering Board of ESSDERC. He is an
Associate Editor for IEEE Journal of Electron Device Society. He has more
than 150 papers one book and 2 book chapters.
